Hello All,

I am currently on a Post Graduate Open work permit that expires on 31/08/2016.

I have submitted my profile for Express Entry and have 467/600 points.

I am working for a company that will (Inshallah) give me a full time offer soon. As I am on a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) do I need to show a Job offer with LMIA or am I exempt from LMIA?

Thank you.

even if you apply under bc pnp international graduate category?
If you get a PNP nomination then you don't need the LMIA as you will get 600 points from that.
However it needs to be a new nomination, you can't use one from the old system last year. At least that's what people have been finding so far.

I though students with PGWP were exempt from LMIA. Would have made this a little easier. Well, for now I'm hoping for the best with the draws.

Thank you :)

Yes thats what is disappointing about EE....PGWP students will be given less priority now onwards

I'm grateful to Canada for offering a chance to apply. I for one want to make the most of this opportunity.

Good luck to all :)

You are exempted from needing an LMIA for a job, but for the purposes of EE a job offer has to be supported by an LMIA, because naturally they'd rather a Canadian have the job than a foreign national if possible.

so if I apply PNP now with PGWP, the application will still go through without the LMIA right?

I'm not sure about all the PNP programs, but for example with BC's EE PNP stream, you need to first qualify for CEC or FSW, create your profile and have it submitted and sitting in the pool, then you can apply for BC PNP, which if you are nominated, will give you an additional 600 points.

Cool, that's good to know! Thank you!

Yes we the students working here in Canada many time have the same opportunities than the foreigns nationals! it's unfair.
