Hello everyone,

I recently got my ITA and I am trying it gather the documents. I have on question that is bothering me.

I am on a contractual work. My initial offer letter is from 2014 that states I will be a full time term employee. That contract was renewed this past summer until the end of May 2017. May 2017 is also the expiration date of my post grad visa. We have a verbal agreement with my boss that once this contract expires it will be renewed again providing I am eligible to work in Canada.

So I can get the company to provide a letter stating that my contract will be renewed once again once expired provided I will be eligible to work but that too will say full time and term employee. On the CIC portal for the offer of employment it specifically says that the letter needs to state permanent work.

Do you guys think this will create any issues? Anybody with a similar experience can share their journey?

Thanks.

This doesn't matter as you do not hold a valid job offer as you are on a PGWP and do not have an LMIA.

Only closed work permits and LMIA count as a valid job offer. Make sure you select No for having a valid job offer and you are not allocated the 50 points.

So as Kryt0n pointed out, you are not eligible for the LMIA-exempt job offer points.

But just wanted to point out that IRCC changed the rules back in November to accommodate contract job offers, it does NOT say "permanent" any more, it must be an offer of at least one year.

And to go one step further - if you wanted that 50 point bonus for a job offer, and if your employer was wiling, they could apply for an LMIA to support your permanent resident application. A "dual intent" LMIA would be for both a work permit and for permanent residence (and cost $1000 for the work permit), but if it was just to support your permanent resident application, it would be free. Accordingly, the language for that has changed as well, the offer for the LMIA does not have to be permanent, it has to be for one year.

Good luck -
