You have to call to Alberta and let them now that you got a job offer (explain about H1B visa holder program, etc)..... your employer will need to provide a job offer (position, $$$) along with the job description... Once Alberta gets this letter, they will issue a support letter to get your work permit..... BTW the support letter takes around 3 weeks... once you get the letter then you should go personally to the consulate to request the work permit... It will save a lot of time....
In my case... I was already approved as a provincial nominee and my PR was in process... so I got a support letter from Alberta and I went to Canada Consulate @NY to get my work permit... lucky me I got my PR approved instead..... but the job offer was turn down due to the economy... so I got my PR but I am still in US...

I hope this helps...

Hi redstar
just a couple of questions...
Are you in USA? Did you apply to Alberta AINP, and if so which category (H1B, etc) did you choose? If your AINP already went through did you file your PR with CIC?

Hi,

I am sorry to interrupt your conversation but I have a similar query. I applied under AINP category in April. I might be offered a job in Toronto (not Alberta), will this be a problem?

And if I am asked to start work immediately will it be on temporary work visa- for this will I need my company to sponsor me.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

my five cents and solely my personal opinion... Most probably Alberta will support job offers only if they come from Alberta employers as this is a provincial nominee program only covering this province...
If you get an offer from a Toronto's employer then you might want to apply to Ontario PNP program instead...

I don't know Ontario's PNP process but most probably you might need to do LMO, etc.... below is the URL in case you needed
