Job offer in Canada...asylum applicant in the U.S

Hi Everyone,

My employer has agreed to transfer me to the Canadian office. However, i'm afraid that my pending asylum application in the U.S might lead to my canada work permit application to be rejected. As my asylum application is still pending, it might appear to the Canadian Visa Officers that I will not have a country to go back to once my Canadian work permit (if granted) expires. Any ideas on how I can go around this issue? Thanks.

With an Asylum Application pending in US it might be a hard call for u to get a Canadian Work Permit in the first place. And even if u do, u might not be able to leave from the US border post. And again, even if u get thru US border, the CBSA might refuse u an entry into Canada.

So, I think u should avoid these complicacies at the moment, unless ur US Asylum materializes. This is off course my own personal opinion, other forum members might be able to advice u better. In any case, why don't u take a lawyer's opinion too?

To add to QORAX's opinion, normally, until your application for asylum is granted, you are not allowed to move or even travel out of the country you are seeking Asylum in.
Although, I don't know much about the US. However, I know that countries like Germany and Switzerland, even confine your movements to a particular province and/or state. Could be different in the US, not sure.

So, Again, Qorax's suggestion about consulting a Lawyer is highly advisable.

Good Luck.
