job offer duration for CEC

Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the required duration of the job offer and I hope you could help me in this regard.
I am working as a post-doctoral researcher in Canada with a 3-year job offer. I got an invitation under the CEC program but 1.6 years from the job contract has already passed and only 1.4 years left. I am confused about the job offer requirement stated in the IRCC website

• "for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa"

1) Is it enough for the job offer to be valid for one year when the application is submitted?

2) Or, I need to find a new job offer. The processing time for PR application is not determinant and fluctuates on case-by-case, so how long should be the job offer?

3) Can a reference letter from my employer stating that my job will be extended for another 2 years be used instead of a new job offer?

I would appreciate any help in this issue.

Short answer, if you could get your employer to issue a new job offer stating “for at least one year after we issue your permanent resident visa”. You’re pretty much set.

Other than that, is subject to IRCC officer’s discretion.

Im a postdoc also. I applied to PR in October 4th 2020 with the 2019 original contract that says postdoc of 3 years (renewable every year). When I applied I was starting my second year, and therefore I did not start the 3rd year.

As I said, I applied with 11 months in advance (October 2020) to start my 3 year, in September 2021.

In March 3rd 2021 I saw that they did count the 50 points as job offer. I haven't received the PR yet, but I dont see how they would change opinion now that eligibility is passed.

My opinion, if when they review your application, you still have 1 year or more (in my case, since they reviewed in March means I had 17 months more of job on front of me)


Think that due to covid they take about 6 months. From October 2020 to March 2021...
