Job offer but no work permit

Dear all,

I would like to know how to obtain a temp. work visa. I am from the netherlands and I have a job offer in Canada.

The work would be as a instructor at a flying school. I have no idea how to obtain the work visa. I have looked at the LMO, but I guess this will be difficult since there must be enough instructors in canada.

How difficult is it to obtain a succesful LMO?

Any other suggestions?

You need an approved LMO to qualify to apply for the work permit. The LMO is something your employer must obtain (not you). As you've probably seen, to be approved for the LMO, your employer must advertise the job first and prove no one from Canada could be hired for the position. I don't know if there are many people with your qualifications already in Canada and how difficult it may be to obtain an approved LMO.

If you already have a job offer, then your employer should start working on the LMO next.

That is what I thought. I was hoping there was an other way to avoid the LMO since it would be a long and difficult way.

LMO is required when your profession is NOT one of some 38-39 professions in the skilled worker shortage list of HRDC. But if your profession requires it, it will be YOUR EMPLOYER who applies for LMO on your behalf. There is simply no other way, unless you are visa exempt for working in canada OR you already have work experience in Canada OR if your spouse is on a work permit in Canada.

There is no list of 38-39 professions that are LMO exempt.

Being visa exempt doesn't make a different - an LMO is still needed.

Also, having Canadian experience doesn't make a different - an LMO is still needed.

It is not precisely incorrect, but i agree i should have specified the visa type since it would be different from what OP asked.

If your profession is one of those 38-39, you can apply for FSWs. I guess one of those is for those with a job offer and the other is general skilled worker immigration.

Similarly if you have more than a year of canadian experience you can apply for CEC immigration visa.

Flight Instructors are not in that list.

I have checked for such as the after graduation work visa, but it would also be difficult for me to obtain. To work in Canada as an instructor I need to do several courses at the school, which require me to have the student visa. I would be a full-time student, but only for a short period of time, shorter then 8 months.

I will try to convince my future employee to apply for the LMO.

Unfortunately you need a minimum of 8 months of full time schooling to qualify for a post graduate work permit (assuming you attend a qualifying school). And even then, you would only be given a work permit equal to the length of your studies (8 months if the program is 8 months).

I will be studying less then 8 months, so probably this wont be an option. I am not looking to for immigration information, just a temporary work permit.
