Hi,

I am outside Canada. I have heard that if i get job offer from a employer in Quebec, then they dont have to go throw lengthy process of LMIA.
Please confirm this and if this is true, what is the avg time i should calculate in order to be there after getting job offer.

THanks

Hi,

if you get a job in Quebec you will need what's called a CAQ (Certificat d'acceptation du Québec), which is the Québec equivalent of the LMIA.

Check this link for more info: https://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/en/immigrate-settle/temporary-workers/obtaining-authorizations/skilled-worker/general-procedure.html

I've gotten a work permit in Quebec before, but this was back in 2008 so before the big switch from LMO to LMIA. Back then the CAQ took about 1 1/2 months to process.
