Hello Forum,

I am just curious about the job bank, does it really work especially for those who live outside Canada ? have anyone applied for a job via job bank and actually got an interview or even an acknowledgement from any employer?

please share your thoughts

Hi Pascal

I live outside Canada and I have applied for two positions through Job Bank more than two months ago. As foreseen, I have only gotten the generic automatic acknowledge of receipt email. I wanted to try out the service, but didn't expect much more.

I think this step is mostly for Canadian authorities to gather information about their applicants and put together statistics about the Express Entry program, labour needs, immigrants experience and so on.

Depending on the occupation, the experience with the tool might be completely difference. I applied for finance analyst positions in Ontario, which could be easier to fill than nursing positions in Nunavut, for example.

I went through this process in another country with a similar approach to immigration and labour market needs and my opinion is that it makes sense especially for individuals already residing in the country. However, I know for a fact that finding a job in Canada from abroad, although difficult, is not impossible.

Good luck!

Serge
