My girlfriend is in canada on visitor visa and almost finished her 6months so we are planning to apply for extension for another 6 months, witch we will need so we can apply for common law visa, i am wondering what are the chances of her exstention being denied? We can show her account with 10k + in available funds is there anything else that can work in favour of approval?

Thank you

Specify that you are trying to qualify for common law and provide proof that you both can afford for her to live in Canada without her working and you should be granted the extension. You must apply before the first visitor status expires.

She doesn't have a visitor visa, nor is she applying for one. She is visa-exempt.

She has visitor status and is applying to extend that status.

Sorry i am confused, so she came here on a visitor visa, but once in canada this is changed to "visitor status"? And under visitor status being in a relationship with a canadian with plans of sponsorship would be seen in a positive light?

When entering Canada she was granted visitor status for 6 months. That is the default time amount unless otherwise stated and written in her passport. Dating a Canadian makes no difference when asking to extend visitor status but intending to qualify for common law seems to be an acceptable reason.

She didn't come here on a visitor visa. Perhaps you are referring to the eTA but that is not a visitor visa. A visitor visa, known as a TRV, is something completely different.

IRCC generally has no issues granting visitor extensions for people wanting to become common-law and apply for sponsorship.

So when we are filling out her extension to stay request should we put me as a common law partner? We will be together 1 year in january.

You are not her common-law partner until you hit one year of cohabitation. She needs to put single.
