Hey! I'm a noob here! I just sent off my Extend to Stay Visa after it was sent back (not denied... just sent back with 90 days to re-send) because I forgot to sign it. :-[ Waiting for my medical exam on Monday and fiance's T4's from CRA and we will be sending off our common law outland app! Wish us luck!

Sidenote: Any Americans out there have any advice for traveling to and from US to BC on a Visitor Visa with a pending Outland Sponsorship App? Is that a no-no? I miss home and would like to attend some weddings AND start planning for my own wedding back home in California, but, I've been horrifically watching Border Security on NatGeo and am now too scared to travel.

Hey there! I too travel down to the USA (British though here) and I am on a tourist visa while I await my PR. Everytime I come back into Canada I produce my marriage certificate and some other documents from our application and explain my situation. I have done this numerous of times and never experienced any issues! In fact they are quite jovial about it and can see that I have an application in progress

I have a question that I am almost positive I won't get an answer for but I'm gonna try anyways !

My situation is a complicated one, hence why we got a consultant. However I am 99% positive we have a great case, I am not worried about our relationship proof or any of that stuff. We have been together for 4+ years and lived together for 3.5+ years.

So here's the kicker: my application is filed with an expired passport. We have sent in a Search of Citizenship to immigration canada which, the Dutch embassy requires before they can issue me a new passport ( don't ask me why, it's so frustrating!!!). On the website it says it takes 5(!!!!) months to do this search of citizenship. I am freaking out that what if, we get the PPR and they require the copies of my valid passport and I don't have it yet! We did list the search of citizenship as urgent but I have heard a bunch of times that immigration will look at it and will decide for themselves if they consider it "urgent" (go figure..).

I am just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of someone doing this process with an expired passport, awaiting a new passport. Thanks a bunch !

I have, but they were always able to get the valid passport in time.

If PPR comes and you don't have the new PP yet, I would email Vienna or write a letter to explain what's going on. If you have any records you're getting a new PP, include that too. Most VOs seem to be pretty understanding.

I just always thought it was an unheard of thing, to send your application in with an expired passport. People tell me all the time "just go to the Dutch embassy and get a passport?". If only it was that easy, I wish they would but I have gone about it in a million different ways and they will not get you a passport without the stupid piece of paper. Bahhhhhh, frustrating. I hate when people don't understand how hard it is to get certain things. I can't get everything with the snap of a finger, I wish!

Incredible these days how government bureaucracy turns a simple operation into a major pain in the backside. In Britain, we tend to think we are the worst in the world but, when I hear stories like this, I dare to contemplate the possibility that British bureaucracy is not quite so crazy after all.

Nothing ! I checked Ecas ( not sure why .. Lol ) and no changes. I know my app was sent to Vienna (or so they say) I just hope it arrived and didn't get lost ! ( yes I have been reading horror stories! ) just waiting for that second AOR!!!

Likewise bro. Everyday i just keep on checking my ECAS and EMAIL hopefully getting an AOR from local VO. Goodluck to all!
