Hi,

Just to give a background, I am a work permit holder and currently working in Canada since Oct 1, 2014. I created 2 EE profiles in May 2015 and both came out ineligible. I thought it was because I didn't yet have 1 year work experience in Canada.

I revisited this 2 weeks ago, I created a 3rd EE profile and this time I got into the pool and received my ITA under FSW class after about a week. I'm in the process of completing my application when I found out that in my first 2 EE profiles, I selected NOC 2171 and 0213 in my previous 10 years work experience whereas the current EE profile I selected 2282 and 0213. This is probably the reason why my first 2 profiles were ineligible.

My current work permit is for NOC 2282. Although my work experience is more in line with 2171, it says here (www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=2282) that 2282 can also be classified as 2171.

I have 3 questions:

1) Would I have a problem with my application if I proceed using the current EE profile or should I decline and create a new EE profile altogether and wait for another ITA?

2) If I complete the forms and click the Continue button, do I have the option to go back and modify the information, or decline the invitation if needed?

3) Should I just wait until October 1st when I get 1 year Canadian experience and submit a new EE profile to qualify under CEC? Would that be an easier route?

Appreciate the advise. Thanks!

To me, it doesnt make sense that how can a chosen NOC make you eligible or ineligible when your qualifications and experience are coinciding with it; it must have been something else making you as ineligible; some mistake or error you be doing which you didn't do luckily in your last filled EE profile, hence got invited; NOCs do conflict/overlapp and choosing a different relevant NOC cannot make you ineligible as there can be more than one NOC for a single work-role.

However, coming to the point, you have both the options, either you can accept the invitation with your currently selected NOC 2282/0123, but make sure the letters you provide are in alignment with the specifications set by CIC and relefct that you really fit in for the chosen NOC; In my opinion, foreign work experience is verified in much detail and tightness so keep this mind too

Also you can wait for an year , collect you experience certificate and apply for CEC; as you know that your permit has the same NOC so it would be an added advantage to increase your chances, but just one year is simply not enough to score good merit on CRS points scale.

For being on the safe side, calculate your points in both the cases and go with the option that is enhancing your score at the CRS scale!

And NO, you won't be having an option to edit your profile once you have transmitted it and paid the fee; you only have the option to view it!

You will still be having the option to file for Case Specific Enquiry (CSE) to alter or amend any piece of information you transmitted in your application, but its response time is very slow and it may happen that the visa officer takes decision on the basis of already provided document while your Enquiry is still under process, so its better to play a single perfect shot.

Hope this helps!

No need to reject your invitation. You are allowed to edit your NOC and it's fine if the NOC you used to receive your ITA is different from the one you used to apply provided your current NOC still falls under A, B or O. I myself received an ITA under 1114 and changed this to 1312 which I thought was more suitably aligned to my work experience and so far I haven't seen any cause for concern. By the way your previous profiles couldn't have been rejected because of the NOC you used, it must have been because of something else.
