ITA received - additional points for Canadian Education

Hey everyone,

After a painful wait, I finally received my ITA, but I'm in a bit of a pickle whether to go ahead with the application or decline.

I have a 4 years Bachelor's degree (outside Canada) and a 1 yr post secondary course (Canadian Diploma) When I filled my EE profile, I incorrectly chose the highest level of education as the overall highest level, which is Bachelor's degree of 3 years or more. So I received 30 points, when I should have received only 15.

I only recently realized this error after receiving my ITA a few weeks ago. But here's the catch, I didn't need an ECA on my Bachelor's degree, since I had Canadian education. So I received only 25 points for my skill transferrability with language, when I should be getting 50. I should also be getting 119 points for level of education, where my current score is 112.

Can someone please let me know if this assessment is correct? Should I go ahead and apply (after getting an ECA for my Bachelor's course)?

If I decline, would I still have create a fresh express entry profile or would I be able make amends to the existing one?

Thanks!

If anyone faces a similar problem, here are 2 ways to go about this:

1. You can make corrections in the final application, however a major change such as this could be grounds for refusal. The VO may/may not see this as a genuine error. Apply entirely at your own risk.

2. Once you receive the ECA, decline current invitation. You will be able to edit express entry profile once it has been declined. Make the rectifications and transmit the changes so the modified profile becomes active. The next time you receive an ITA, it will be based on the right information - safer option, and one less thing to worry about after your apply
