Hi,

Yes, you can update the IELTS score post-ITA.

  • Just include a letter of explanation depending on the scenario. Example:
    • Old IELTS is about to expire, so you are updating with a new one
    • You made a mistake while filling up earlier, and correcting that mistake now

  • Also, your scores will be re-calculated based on the new IELTS score you update.
    • So, if your updated IELTS score is lower compared to the last scores, your overall CRS score will decrease and if it's below the cut-off, your application will not be eligible
    • As long as your CRS is above the cut-off for which you received the ITA, you are good

Please note that these responses are based on my understanding and information from various forums and posts.

For any doubts or specific advice, it's always a good idea to consult with an immigration lawyer recommended by IRCC.

No need to include letter of explanation. IRCC isn't concerned about that, nor is that a standard procedure. Unless OP is risking MEC with the new IELTS score, nothing to worry about.
