Hey all,
I'm fairly certain I understand the Work Permit process, however prior to going in for an interview tomorrow I'd like to be positive all my ducks are in a row.
1) From what I understand, many IT positions fall under NAFTA and therefore the LMO is waived. Due to it being waived all that is needed is a letter of offer from the company and for me to "walk around the flag pole" and show my letter of offer and then file for a work permit (If someone could clarify what walking around the flag pole will actually involve that'd be great).
2) Lets say the position does need the LMO, but since I'm married to a Canadian isn't there some type of stipulation that waives the LMO due to my spouse being a Canadian citizen? (This is where I really need clarification).
3) When I go into the job interview what is the easiest way to let them know I need the work permit and what needs to be done for me to get it. Ergo, the step by step plan for them so they don't have to do anymore work than necessary.
I've gotten all most information from the CIC website as well as Canadavisa.com, if there are any other websites that help to clarify or anyone who can walk me through the process in layman terms that would be awesome. Oh, probably an important bit, I'm an American.
Thank you all in advance!
