Hi,

Please help me with following issue, if you can!

I want to invite my parents here in Canada for summer for about 2-3 weeks. They just recently got their passport. When agent applied for passport for my mom, they didn't look carefully about DOB in the leaving certificate from the school document which they submitted, but when they received their passport they saw that it has wrong DOB.

Her actual DOB is 28 AUG 1966 but in passport she got 25 JUL 1965, which is wrong. Now we know that we always celbrate her birthday on 28 AUG every year and I also put the same date in my immigration documents whenever it was needed.

They are from India.

Does anyone know anything , how to correct this error?

Can I just ask my parents to do AFFIDAVIT with correct DOB or they have to change the date in actual passport?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Actually we don't know how my Parents made a mistake, but I guess passport agent asked them for leaving certificate and they gave him and agent himself filled out the form and submitted it and we got wrong date.

In her Birth Certificate which in in my mother language the date is wright, now I asked my parents to convert that document into English and I don't know what's next step!

Please advise!

Hi,

It seems that the Agent entered the wrong DOB.... and it is not a printing error on the part of the Passport Office.... you will have to provide supporting documents to confirm that the DOB is indeed the date you wish to change the passport date to

To change the date/place of birth in the passport, you have to apply for a "Re-issue" of passport and get the specified change done in the personal particulars. To check the complete list of documents to be submitted along with the application form, please click on "Documents Required" link on Home page.

Hope this helps :)

Whether it is a change of DOB.... and/or change in the spellings of her name, your mom will have to apply for re-issue of the passport.

btw the name change will be considered as a 'major change'.... and not a 'minor change' of a simple spelling mistake (for example, Sarma instead of Sharma)

A new passport will be issued after her DOB, name, etc are verified.... as police verification has already been done for your parents before their passports were issued, it may cut down on the time for the passport re-issue. However, whether police verification should be done again or not is at the discretion of the Passport Office
