Hi Everyone,

I have read so many articles regarding Canadian work experience calculation under CEC but I am still not sure how to count for the qualified work experience under my situation.

I started my full time (40 hours from Jan to June, 35 hours from June to Dec) position in January 1st, 2017 and my one year employment anniversary is January 1, 2018. During the year I took a few days off from the work for personal reasons (sick, doctor appointments, etc) and personal days are not paid. Through the year there are three weeks I have worked that are less than 30 hours a week.
  • There was one week I worked 16 hours
  • There was one week I worked 28 hours
  • There was one week I worked 28 hours
Originally I thought I would be eligible for CEC once January 1, 2018 approaches.

Now I am assuming I will need to work three more weeks in order to make up the weeks that I worked less than 30 hours a week. Is my assumption correct?

Thanks!!

Hi there,

Any unpaid duration is not counted towards your experience. Specially since all the weeks mentioned are less than 30 hours. If you have time, I'll stick to working for couple of more weeks, and maybe some more to give you that buffer time.

Best of luck,

Hi there,

Thanks for the advice! I will then enter the pool in Feb 1, 2018 instead of Jan 1, 2018.
