Hi guys

My question is:is it easy to transfer from a postgraduate program in college to master degree at some university?
My plan is to choose a two years postgraduate program at the beginning and then if I have chance to transfer to university and finish master degree. Is this going to affect my study permit and would I be able to continue my studies with the same study permit or am I gonna need a new one?

Also if anybody can recommend some master degree in the business area without GMAT that would be great. I saw the Financial Accountability master program from York University and it doesn't require Gmat, but it is quite expensive for international students. So if anybody has experience with York or any other University that give scholarships to International students , please share the information.
Thank you in advance

Hi,

1. No issue if you change your course from PG to PG level (even if it's from College to University)

2. As fas as I know, you can check out two MBA (without GMAT) programs in Ontario;

: Brock University (Only International MBA)
: Wilfred Laurier University (strict conditions to get GMAT waiver)

Hi enfield

I Know about these two universities, do you know if universities require gmat for master in accountancy?AND could you tell me if we need to show enough funds just for the first year of study or for the whole studying time( for example if my program costs 30 000 for two years do I need to show these 30000 in my bank account or just for the first YEAR?.which is the approximate amount of money that me and my partner should show when applying for study permit and visa for him?

p.s I just got my IELTS RESUlts today: L-7, R-8, S-7.5 and W-6.5, overall 7.5.Is Overall 7.5 enough for master studies or I need better grades( for example no grade below 7 for each part)?

thank you very much for your help:)

1. "do you know if universities require gmat for master in accountancy?"

: Since I am a student of MBA, so I do not think if I can talk about any other field :(

2. AND could you tell me if we need to show enough funds just for the first year of study or for the whole studying time( for example if my program costs 30 000 for two years do I need to show these 30000 in my bank account or just for the first YEAR?

: You need first year tuition fees + CAD 10,000 (living expenses) + transportation costs to and from Canada as a MINIMUM amount. It's better if you show more but it's not required.

3. "Which is the approximate amount of money that me and my partner should show when applying for study permit and visa for him?"

: Apart from your expenses (as I mentioned in point 2), you need CAD 4,000 + transportation costs to and from Canada for your partner.

4. "I just got my IELTS RESUlts today: L-7, R-8, S-7.5 and W-6.5, overall 7.5.Is Overall 7.5 enough for master studies or I need better grades( for example no grade below 7 for each part)?"

: At least for MBA it's enough. I am sure for other business programs as well, still check out the IELTS requirement of your proposed school.

Hi,

You need a bank statement.

If you are from India, you need;

1. An educational loan covering first year tuition + CAD 8,000.

2. A bank statement

I quote;

"Column number 6: Personal and company bankbooks or bank statements for you/your parents showing transactions over the past 24 months. Proof of any other invested funds you may have."

If it's not a 24 months bank statement, CHC may ask for;

"Column number 7: Proof of the origin of your recent bank deposits".

Hi,

1. It's a specific requirement for South Asian students. For europeans it's generally a PROOF of sufficient funds to pay for your tuition and living expenses for you and your accompanying family members for the period you are studying in Canada. You can show it by way of your bank account/statement details.

So if I'm going to study for four years in Canada ( I'm thinking to apply for a nursing program since I have a nursing high school diploma, I have changed my mind about business PG certificate as I think it will be easier find a well paid job with a nursing degree) should I show funds for the whole 4 years or just for the first one as you said??

Thank you and happy holidays

Hi,

1. For Indian students, it's a SPECIFIC requirement to show 80 percent of the FIRST YEAR tuition fees + CAD 8,000 (living expenses), but for Macedonians, there is NO such specific requirement.

I quote,

www.canadainternational.gc.ca/serbia-serbie/study-etudie/index.aspx?lang=eng&menu_id=30&view=d

"proof of sufficient funds to pay for your tuition and living expenses for you and your accompanying family members "for the period you are studying in Canada".

However, I repeat (as I said earlier) that it's better to consider as a minimum the 1st year tuition + CAD 10,000 living expenses for your study permit application.

Here, I quote;

www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp

"Proof of financial support: You can prove that you have sufficient funds to support yourself in Canada by showing some of the following:

:proof of a Canadian bank account in your name if money has been transferred to Canada;

:your bank statements for the past four months;

:proof of payment of tuition and accommodation fees."

Hi enfield,

I hope you don't mind I have a couple more questions for you:

1) I know I have asked you about postgraduate certificate business programs since I have bachelor degree in International Business Relations. Now, I' thinking about another option-nursing program since I have a high school diploma in midwifery. My question here is with which choice(course of study) my chances of getting visa are higher? I'm little bit afraid to go with nursing school since my recent education is in economic area. Is this going to be a problem or I can simply state that I like more working in the medicine field?

2) I have noticed that all universities and colleges require transcripts from high school diploma or post-secondary degree. Would you be so kind to explain to me what kind of document the transcript is exactly and what kind of information does it contain? I really need help here because the administration office at my school does not have a clear idea about this. Also do educational institutions in Canada require original transcripts or translated and notarized copies are enough? Last-is it necessary to send all the documents together or you can send the application form first and transcripts later?

3) Are you familiar how are the things of getting scholarship as an international student, is it possible or is it very difficult? I have a GPA-B+ from university and GPA-A from high school, so I'm really hoping to have a chance for some scholarship.

4) Last question for today :)-if anyone finish 2 postgraduate programs (each of them in length of one year) will he/she be eligible for 3 years postgraduate work permit?

Thank you so much in advance
