Is this true? Caregivers in Canada may no longer apply for permanent residence?

This has been answered on this board probably at least 5 times now. It's not true. It's a rumour. The rumour apparently stems from some less than honest employment agencies tricking their live-in caregivers to go to Canada on a regular low-skill work visa instead of going under the live-in caregiver program. They had done this because the low-skill work visa was faster and the employment agencies could collect their fees faster from the poor unsuspecting live-in caregivers. After 2 years in Canada when these live-in caregivers wanted to apply for PR, they found out that as regular low-skill workers, they were not eligible to apply. Just make sure you are going in under the correct program and you will be fine.

I don't think there is such thing as a "free" visa to canada????????????? And if you come here, unless you are staying with family or friends , you will have to find a place to live and pay rent.
