Note: This was an experience by somebody..

This lady applied for a work permit in Oct. 2014 using her OLD LMO, OLD CONTRACT. She submitted it 2 weeks before her work permit expired. The employer doesn't know anything about this since she won't be renewed because it's hard to get an LMIA.

So she waited and waited... but in December she decided to go home to her country thinking that her work permit will not be approved.

But come January, her work permit came in her Canada address and was granted 2 years work permit.
So her friend sent it to her country and she came back the same month. Went back to her employer at a fast food and the employer accepted her with open arms...

NOW!!!

Is there really such thing like applying for a work permit using an OLD LMO AND CONTRACT????

I'm kinda lost on that one... Please enlighten me.... thank you!

Every LMO has a validity date before which a work permit application must have been submitted.

After that it is not valid. However, you said an LMO and not LMIA.

As far as i know the maximum validity of LMO issued is six months and i think LMOs were replaced by LMIAs well before Oct. 2014 (for an LMO to be still under 6 month validity).

So it sounds weird unless you missed some details

I would say this is an exception. But nevertheless it does show things fall in the cracks at CIC. For the WP to have been issued on this described basis - that is a very rare; the conditions described and supporting documents presented in the application strongly lead to refusal as the outcome.

But for the applicant - very fortunate. No use trying to discern what happened in CIC - they really do things in mysterious ways.

That's what I thought! I know that LMO is only valid for 6 months since I was a TFW.
I know this story is odd. I would have to check on this again...

Thanks for the response! :)
