My Fiancé and I applied for a study visa and open work permit at the Canadian High Commision in Pretoria(South Africa) on January 8 2009.
Her course start date is may 10, so this left a longer time period then both the 8 week average processing time as well as the 3 month in advance recommendation they make for applications.
We were contacted shortly after to do the medical and hand in some additional documents, all of which we have done.
Since then we have not heard anything, we have outstanding email enquiries from around the 2nd of March as well as a more recent status enquiry from the 13th of April.
The course start date is now only 14 days away so even if we were to hear tomorrow it is starting to reach a point where it is too late, we really need some kind of answer as to what is going on, the only channel of communication I can find is email which seems to be ignored outright.
Is there anything further we can do at this point? Is there some other channel of communication available to me perhaps? Or must we just cancel the course and give up? The course only accepts a limited amount of students so we are also under pressure from the institution to give them a final answer as they must otherwise give the place away to somebody else who can attend.
