Is there any tax on salary if immigrant is working out of canada

I need some information, I got job in Brunei, and its an expat offer, I will be landing Canada by end of this month and will be able to get SIN and can open Bank A/c in canada.

But will Canadian govt deduct tax from my salary if i am working out of canada after getting PR, please advice.

As a resident of Canada, you:

  • must report "world income" (income from all sources both inside and outside Canada) on your Canadian income tax return;
  • must ensure that you pay the correct amount of taxes according to the law;
  • have the right and responsibility to verify your income tax status each year;
  • can claim all deductions, non-refundable tax credits, and refundable federal, provincial, or territorial credits that apply to you.

I don't think a foreign employer will withhold taxes, but you're responsible for them. If this is a position with a Canadian company, they may be required to withhold taxes, I don't know. I would consult a tax expert specialized in expats, if the law is anything like the US, expat tax issues are a pain.

Generally, while you are out of Canada, and you have no major ties to Canada, income earned outside Canada is not taxable IN Canada
