Hi guys
I went today to do my upfront medical for my FSW EE. I have to say how frustrated I am with the procedures the clinics were doing. As far as I know all I have to show them is a valid ID along with my photos.
I live in this country legally in a status similar to citizens as I am originally from here and I have a citizenship application which i have been waiting for last 22 years, yes 22 years. So i used a temporary travel document that they issue me every year to go to my moms country during the holiday and got a proper citizenship and passport from there based on her. I never used this new passport as i dont need a resident permit here. I used it however when i submitted my profile in the EE pool. Immigration officers will have no issue what so ever considering that i live here legally even if i showed 10 passports. So why are those doctors making a big fuss and pretending to be immigration officers taking a whole hour for me to explain to them what I was already going to explain when i submit my PR application? Isnt there job just to get an ID to confirm its me and do my medicals and leave such explanations and decisions between me and CIC?
Is there any where i can submit a complain about this?
Regards

I'm not precisely sure what the issue is, but I think I get it.

The Doctor needs the passport that you used to create your Express Entry profile. The form you'll get after the medicals has your passport details on it, and that has to match what's on your EE profile.

If it doesn't match, you may have issues with CIC.

This is a bit of an odd situation cause I haven't seen people complaining about this before.. it's not very clear what you're so upset about.

That's true. The doctor need the proper passport details that you used to create your express entry profile.

This is because your medicals will be sent directly online to CIC by your panel of physician.

I provided them the same passport I used to create my profile.
To make it clear for you, that passport has no resident stamps or anything on it.
So his issue was where is ur visa to be here.
But i dont need a visa to live here as I have another legal status which exempts me from that.

Say you had a british and a romanian passport for example. And you live in the uk. U go to the clinic and tell them i am actually using my romanian passport to immigrate, its your choice. So he starts asking you about ur uk resident permit, but u dont need one to begin with lmao.
Passport A was used in the profile. Passport A was provided to them in the clinic. Other issues will be explained to immigration officers when i submit my PR, and thats what i told them.
Is it clearer now?

Yeah, that's a lot clearer. And now I understand why you're upset, I would be too. The clinic is not supposed to check your immigration status in the current country..

Do you mind sharing where you are located? Is this a state in the US south? I can think of a whole bunch of reasons why this would happen in some places in the USA

Exactly goose. I had to provide them copies of my old travel documents, my driving license, a copy of my passport in 2009 showing my visa to canada as a medical student in the university of toronto, provided them my acceptance letters back in 2009 and when i entered and left canada, all just because am telling them my history is clean. Never stayed illegally anywhere and never commited a single law offence.
And they made it sound in a way as if i dont provide all of that then cic will reject me.
But hello, ur just supposed to do my medical and leave that to cic!
No its not the US. Its Oman in the middle east.

Ah well, don't get stressed about it. There's a reason why you want to leave that country haha. Look ahead to landing in Canada and freezing your backside off - but the people are warm and friendly (I'm in the US, I know many Canadians, and they're all lovely people).

I think the clinic has the right to check your legal status as they might have issues with CIC and even get ban from the panel, meaning losing a lots of clients who look forward to immigrate and thus revenue.

My doctor, from CIC panel even looked at my passport bio page during consultation and even chat a bit about my professional occupation as mentioned on my passport bio page.

I believe the doctor will then make a report on you to be forwarded to CIC, to make sure that's not scam.

Also the UK example mentioned, I understand why they would be strict; I heard that Romania and Bulgaria were already removed from free movement within the EU even before brexit in 2010. May be I'm wrong. Try to research it.

Hope it helps.

Uk and romania were just examples. I dont belong to either of them.
If they have the right to research my immigration status then i would understand, and thats why I asked.
But oh well, like goose said, hopefully soon it will be behind my back.
Also, looks like its best that anyone in the same situation as me be prepared and take everything with you, because they might ask and seems they not only doing your medical, but like the last comment said looks like they actually send a report about you ( doesnt make sense bumight be the way it is).
Good luck to all of us
