Hi all,

I came a cross a strange info from my friend's consultant , I asked her that my job duty only covers 50% of the NOC I applied under which is 7242,industrial electrician, and my job is industrial instrumentation technician which is a different noc 2243 on hrcic, so she said u may stand a chance if visa officer find ur job in the list of acceptable occupations.

I never heard of this list.......so wonder if some one can shed a light on this plz.

For ur reference I will copy paste noc 7242 vs noc 2243 and hope if anyone can see any match.

2243
Main duties

Industrial instrument technicians and mechanics perform some or all of the following duties:

Consult manufacturer's manuals, circuit diagrams and blueprints to determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, chemical composition and other variables in manufacturing and processing
Inspect and test operation of instruments and systems to diagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical and electronic testing devices and precision measuring instruments
Repair and adjust system components, such as sensors, transmitters and programmable logic controllers, or remove and replace defective parts
Calibrate components and instruments according to manufacturers' specifications
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance work and complete test and maintenance reports
Install control and measurement instruments on existing and new plant equipment and processes.

Noc 7242

Maid duties

Install, examine, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components

Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors
Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices
Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices.

Thanks all.

The title of your professional should not necessarily be exactly as the NOC. What is of utmost IMPORTANCE is that the duties you perform in a particular NOC should reflect those listed under the ministerial instruction. And your reference letter should not be copy and paste from the MI. So your profession maybe 2243 but if the duties you have performed match 7242, you can apply under NOC 7242 and vice versa. Simply put, CIC is looking at duties/experience and not title of of posts/positions.

thanks mandie for ur reply,

i totally agree with u that the job duties are more important than the title....but that wasnt my point of arguement........i was asking about if the visa office didnt find perfect match between my job duties and the duties of the nominated NOC ,i been told the visa officer may look into a list of acceptable occupations that r interrelated with my original job duties......technically, there is an overlap duites between industrial electrician and an industrial instrumentation......i have pasted the duties of each above so u can see the matches lines between the two NOC,

anyhow....my main topic is " Is there such a list of acceptable occupation" near ur nominated NOC the officer may consider......

thanks....
