Hello All,
I just restarted my journey to land in Canada, I looking into this a few years ago but then decided to try for the US GC via my company but i'm still waiting so i'm taking matters into my own hand. I am taking the IELTS test in Jan and was applying via the Federal Skilled Workers Program. Just today, a friend advised that I should try the provincial nomination path? Any thoughts ? Here's my Background

Degree- Bsc. Mechanical Engineering , 2007. United States University
Computer science diploma, 2005 , United Stated Diploma
Work Experience: 6+ years- Mining Engineering (Currently Engineering Project Manager)
Accomplishments- Lead Inventor , 2 US Patents. 3rd US patent is currently pending patent office approval.

I expect to pass the IELTS test as I studied in England (part of secondary school) and all of my post secondary in the states (I think I still have to take the IELTS right?)

On track to complete my Masters in March 2014
Age: 30
Lived in the US for past 12 years. F1 and H1visa.

Should I focus on the PNP instead of Federal ? How do I know which province will afford me the better probability of being nominated ? Right now Alberta seems to be best for my job experience. Any advise will be helpful

Will here is my advice. :)

For me, Federal may be fast but the NOC codes keep on changing yearly. And like me, I am also an engineer but I opted to be on the PNP because I am afraid that my work won't belong to the NOC codes next year. Not like PNP, it won't matter as long as you are really decided to live on that specific province. :)

Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.

Btw, I do not reside in Canada at the moment neither do I have a job offer from a Canadian firm. I hope that doesn't change anything. Thanks
