Hello team,

I did soft landing from US in Aug 2017 and went back to US in Aug 2017 and continued working there. I permanently moved to Canada in July 2019 and have been residing in Canada since then.

For my Citizenship application, do I need to submit a police certificate from US since I already submitted once when applying for my PR.

As per cic, I need to submit a police certificate if I was residing in any country for more than 183 days, after becoming PR in the past 4 years unless I moved from my country of origin. In this case, is the country of origin US or India which is where I am a citizen of ?

Thanks,

It is simple. You have been in another country for more than 183 days in a row in the last 4 years and it was after landing as a PR. You need a police certificate.

Exactly what wksj said. It’s a clear cut one. Many people (myself included) mistakenly assumed that as you went back to your country of origin or where you were before you became a PR that you don’t need one. That caveat only applies if before you became a PR you travelled from said country and didn’t go back for more than 183 days. You should include a PCC as part of your application.
