Is my wife allowed to stay in canada?

we applied for sponsor/PR in june, sponsor approved, her PR process started July 20th
my wife's temp visa expired end of July
we recieved PR process letter and file number.
Someone said that's good enough for her to stay in canada?
she applied for vistor extension, but process hasn't even started
CIC guide says, one should apply 30days before expiry but according to processing time on CIC website

(IMM 5551) May 25, 2010 65 days

looks like we should've apply for extension at least two months before...

Your wife is allowed to stay in Canada as long as the implied status is still valid.

as long as its been mailed off before it expires, she has implied status while they work on it.
