Hello Forum,

I'm having valid open work permit(Dependent on my Spouse Study permit) which is valid till end of 2015 & for my spouse study visa is valid till 2017, but me & my spouse are out side Canada from last 6 months due to personal reasons. Now,we are planning to go back to Canada on the same visa as my spouse got her admission for summer 2014.

I would like to know following things.

1. can we travel on the same visa documents?
2. Are my visa's are still active?
3. if my visa's are inactive, what is the procedure to activate?
4. once we land in Canada, at POE if we show the valid supporting documents will they allow us to enter into the Canada?
5. If non of the above, what is the procedure?
6. Do we have to reapply for the Visas?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,
Vikris

-- Yes you can travel back to Canada on same Visa. Just make sure it is valid for atleast 3 months on the date you arrive.

2. Are my visa's are still active?
--Look for the expiry date on your visa. It says when it is expiring.

3. if my visa's are inactive, what is the procedure to activate?
--As far as I know there is no such thing as inactive visa.

4. once we land in Canada, at POE if we show the valid supporting documents will they allow us to enter into the Canada?
-- You has to provide whatever document asked by CBSA officer.

5. If non of the above, what is the procedure?
-- Your visa are valid and work permit has same expiry date unless if your passport is expiring early.

6. Do we have to reapply for the Visas?
--Only if they are already expired. You have to apply again on basis of your work permit.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

Please don't confuse a work permit or a study permit with a travel visa (TRV, temporary resident visa). Unless you are from a visa-exempt country, you will also need a valid TRV to be allowed to board a flight to Canada. The TRV is for travel only. The permits are what authorize you to work or study in Canada. You might need to apply for new TRVs.

You don't say what country you are from or whether you already have a TRV. Read here:
