Is my study permit within Canada too risky?

I have been in canada for two months with my family (husband and kids) handling a family emergency.
Prior to coming I got an offer to do my masters. I wanted to apply for my permit when we get back home (to show ties). Based on the length of time I've been here, I do not want to delay my application further and is considering applying but it seems risky.

Do I just hold out for however long and apply when I get back home? Course starts September.

You can apply now but it is still processed from home country. You will need to show very strong ties to home country as you have been in Canada for quite a while. If your family is with you then that further weakens family ties.
