Is my Child a Dependent?

I am a US citizen applying with my Canadian husband as my sponsor. He is not the father of my child (a 6yr old) but my child is a Canadian citizen, born in canada, whose father is also a Canadian citizen born in Canada.

Do I need to include my child as a dependent in my application, even though he is already a Canadian citizen and is supported by his Canadian father? My child does live with myself and my husband but I do not consider him a dependent of my husbands.

I am of course listing him on the Additional Family Members form and I explain our circumstances in a cover letter but I was advised not to include my child as a dependent in other parts of the application, including "number of persons included in undertaking" etc.

Thanks for your help!

Since your child is already a Canadian Citizen, then, no, you don't need to list him as your dependent child on other forms. What you did is correct.
