and what kind a test they took?????

Yes, Medicals are a must and you must go thru it... the whole logic behind it is to prevent people with serious illnesses (communicable or otherwise) from entering Canada & posing a health hazard to residents there. Also, to prevent the person from being a huge drain on the medical facilities / benefits available.
