Is medical really required for extending the visitors visa?is there anyone here applied for extension and didn,'t undergo medical?thanks
Hi,
You do not "extend a visitor's visa" - what you extend is the duration of stay. You apply for a new visa if the earlier one is nearing expiry.
1. A visa is just an entry document which has validity dates - these validity dates refer to until when the visa can be used to enter Canada, not until when you can stay in the country.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/temp/visa/validity/expiry.asp
The expiry date on the TRV is the date by which the visa must be used to seek admission into Canada. If the visa is not used on or before that date, it ceases to be valid.
The validity date is NOT the suggested duration of the visit. At the port of entry examination, CBSA officers determine the length of time temporary residents are authorized to stay in Canada.
2. The authorized duration of stay is given by the CBSA officer at the PoE.

3. If your intention is to extend the stay - then you apply for an extension via: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp
If you look at the checklist or in the instruction guides - there is no medical examination requirement at the time of application for extending a stay. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5551ETOC.asp
Now from my personal experience in extending a stay - medical instructions will be sent as part of the visitor record - if the applicant needs to undergo a medical examination.
4. If your intention is to apply for a new visa because of travel out of Canada and re-entering again, then this is the link for getting a re-entry visa - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/ cpp- o- apply. asp (remove spaces before putting the weblink in the browser - the direct link cannot be posted....)
Note:
Apply for a new temporary resident visa from within Canada
If you are a temporary resident in Canada with valid status (that is, you have a valid study permit or work permit), you can apply for a new temporary resident visa to return to Canada before you leave.
If you are applying at a visa office outside of Canada, then medical examinations may be needed before a visa is issued.
