Is long term home rent contract required for spouse sponsorship?

Hi,

I'm PR holder since Sept, 2015 but just arrived on 10th of August to settle permanently. I want to start the process of wife sponsorship. As I don't have job right now, I plan to delay renting an apartment till I find a job. so,

1) Is it required to submit any contract for home renting while sponsoring the wife?
2) Also, I have never submitted any tax files in the last period as I was outside Canada. Will that impact the sponsorhip?
