when u get ur passport back from ottawa with immigrant stamp on it, can u leave canada without applying for PR card and come back to canada using ur immigrant visa and then apply for PR card ? really need an answer. thanks

You *have* to leave Canada unless you have applied for an immigration interview to land at a local CIC office.
When you return to Canada, using the IM-1 visa in your passport, you can complete your landing.

So, yes it's safe, and normal.

All this assumes of course, that you have asked exactly the question that you intended to.

You don't "apply" for a PR card. It is automatically applied for you, if you give a Canadian address when you "land" as a PR.

thank you so much zardos. how about if i do my interview here and my PR card gets applied automatically then can i use my immigrant to leave and re-enter canada or i have to wait to receive PR card ? To THE POINT , i want to leave canada and apply for my PR card at the same time. is it possible ?

You can't "land" as a PR on your way OUT of Canada. Your IM-1 visa is only good for one trip, and if you do a landing interview inside Canada, I think that they will cancel that visa then. If you don't have your PR card, in your hand, by the time you want to return to Canada, you will probably have to apply for a Travel Document.
