Hello all,

Just wondering if it is recommended to mask SIN while submitting T4 ? (I think I read somewhere).

If yes, would you know why is it recommended? and would CIC have any issues if we do that.

Thanks,
caimi

CIC do not need to know your sin.

it is advised to black it out because sin like ssn can be used for financial fraud by any cic employee.

thats why it is advised to black it out for your safety

I would say it's better to provide the SIN to CIC based on the link below. Though it is talking much about the Citizenship applications but there is a possibility of CRA sharing information, when required by CIC and you never know. So, it is better that to provide them so that they can have access and gives more clear picture to the CIC Office while making a decision on your case if your clear in terms of Assessments you submitted.
