Hello Respected Members,
I am asking on behalf of my friend, who is planning to apply for Super visa but someone told him that it depends on Visa Officer to accept application as Super Visa but issue Simple TRV? is this really a possibility Or anyone has experience such path?

Your response would be much appreciated

Thanks

I applied for just the regular TRV for my mom and not the Supervisa. Multiple entry was granted.

Supervisa has more requirements than a regular TRV.

Your friend can just apply for a regular one then once the parent is here in Canada then they can apply for the supervisa.

No because I really just applied for a regular TRV.

What some people do, once the parents arrived in Canada with a regular TRV, they apply for the Supervisa inside Canada.

This is incorrect.

Super visas must be applied from the home country.

It is possible to only extend the visitor status, by up to 2 years, on an initial 6-months TRV entry.... if the applicant is the parent/grandparent of a PR/citizen. The eligibility criteria are similar to that of a super visa.

But this extension of the authorized stay is not the same as having a super visa which allows someone to enter/remain for 2 years at a time on initial entry

Thanks

I shouldn't have said INSIDE CANADA I should have said WHILE in CANADA.

What I meant about it is that once the parent is here in Canada then they can process the super visa in their home country as you said. The most important thing is that the parents is in Canada already.
