Is it possible for employers to not honor their job offers?

Hello,

Just a thought, in the event of receiving a job offer, which makes you get an ITA at the next draw, especially now that the whole process is slower due to COVID, is there a real chance that after(if) you get the PR, the position for which you got the job offer to be filled?

I find it hard to believe that's convenient for an employer to wait even over half a year for an employee be able to land in Canada to actually fill that position, especially if it's not something that requires unheard of talent or high management position or whatever...

What are your thoughts?

Anything is possible. Employers are not legally required to keep the role open for you.

Note that you need a job offer + approved LMIA from the employer in order to qualify for the 50 job offer points. A job offer itself won't be enough unless you are already working in Canada for that employer under a closed work permit.

Bummer, but that was kind of expected.

Correct, but if you need more than 50 points to get to the cutoff perhaps you should re-evaluate your options.
