Is it okay to leave on visa expiry date?

Guys, my cousin is coming to visit Canada and on the way, is also visiting US. However, his US visa expires on Sep 10 and his return flight from US to Canada is also on Sep 10. Is that okay OR does he need to leave US on Sep 9? I know this is more US-related but I'm sure visa rules are more or less similar so thought of asking here. Thanks a lot in advance.

yes, he needs to be out by 11:59 on the 10th. anything after that is the 11th.
