Do you think its OK to send your CV with the initial application, especially as it would give a broader view to duties? Has anyone done this?

I am not sure what purpose it will serve. Especially since thay have instructed not to send any documents to Sydney.
If you have provide a detail of the duties you perform, attach extra sheet as an appendix.

It is not required

If you want to give them a broader view, take a blank sheet of paper, type your name, the form number and question number for which you think this broader view will help and type down your duties. This alone is enough.

To send a CV will have negative effect on application, that you are not following the instructions

Ruppeshari is absouletly rite, this is the way to include your all duties along with question number. What i did was same but i noted down two additional things , one category:- FSW and file number.

Thanks all for replies - my heart really sank when I read that some believe it will hinder the application, although elsewhere on the forum I found information that was more positive. Anyway, I have already sent the application to Sydney with a separate page of main duties which have have been lifted from my CV and I also attached a print off of the CV anyway. If they don't want the CV, they can always throw it in the bin!

i dont think sending CV will have -ve impact.
They will simply not look at it.
But if you have an attachement and that document refers to a application form and section number then you are good.

I also don't think it is necessarily negative but it is always better to make it easier for the IO to find your duties. When it is in the CV, i would have to figure out which job I should look at among a whole lot of other information. I know this is not difficult but it is always easier on a blank sheet of paper by itself.

It is like a job application sometime. Sometimes a candidate would send some documents that are not needed and it just makes going through the evaluation process a little harder, especially when you have to make a shortlist from 200 odd applicants for the job.

Thanks rupeshhari for your feedback.
I suppose its no different to sending a covering letter - it's not a requirement at the initial stage, but from what I've been reading, plenty of people do it anyway. There's no evidence to support the claim that it would have a neg effect on the application.
In my case, I am applying as a Chef and in the NOC category it covers a whole range of kitchen positions. As I have worked my way up through all of them, they are all relevant to the category and I suppose it also helps support my claim to more than 4+ years experience (17 in my case)

Remember cover letter is a bit different (at least the way I did it). I didn't care if they threw my cover letter away. I think I used it mostly to list all the items that I had sent to them.

BTW I am neither discouraging or encouraging you to send your CV.
