Is it compulsory to declare goods to follow?

Hi guys,

I wanted to know - my wife and I are aplanning to land may/june. We don't have alot of stuff and are planning to sell of most of our stuff.
Do we still need to fill the 'accompanying and goods to follow forms"

You don't need to fill them if you don't have anything coming in at a later time. It's mandatory only if you plan to bring something in future.
 
As explained, no there's no requirement to bring goods at a later date, but if you have anything left behind its a good idea to notate. Because, even if you come a year later with your stuff, you can come to the border with that document and don't pay taxes. Its not required, but a good idea. Its entirely up to you.

We have wedding photos framed. Would these need to be mentioned as accompanying goods?

On a broader note, what category/categories of things need to be declared? Im not really one that carries stuff when i travel :)

B4 forms are required only if you have goods coming through a shipment or a cargo.
For goods being carried with you in check-in luggage, it's not required.

This is what was told to me by a customs official at Pearson.
I had prepared B4 forms for everything I was getting to Canada.
He asked if all the things in my form were already with me or coming separately through cargo.

When I said everything is with me in my luggage, he returned the forms and said it was not required.

I hope it helps.

I don't think this information is correct.

Every person can come to Canada with up to $800 CAD in merchandise as tax free.

PR or TFW usually are coming with more valuables (laptop, cameras, cellphone, jewelry...)

In order to don't be asked to pay importing taxes you should fill B4 form out, for stuff is coming with you.

If you expected to send as cargo, or pick up with you, in the future something else you have to use B4A form.

If you don't want to fill the form, you should get a list of importing good and value, at least.

For goods and cash in check-in luggage, it's not required.
I am speaking this from experience.
I had 22K CAD in cash and some costly electronics and jewelry in luggage.
CBSA gave me my B4 forms back and clearly told that it's required if I have things coming separately through cargo.
Also that all the things I got with me are duty free, since this is my first landing.

Many others had the exact same experience with CBSA.

I guess it's still not harmful to keep a copy of B4 forms with you, but I just stated what I experienced first hand.
