Hi everybody,

I am working as software engineer for the last 14 years and for the last 6 years in US. My skill is qualified to apply for FSW.

My question is , when i apply for Canadian PR can i quote just my 6 years of US experience instead of quoting all 14 years? The reason is, i worked for 3 different companies while i was in India and none of them will give the experience letters in the format i need. one company in which i worked for 3 years went out of business though.

will there be any problem if they see a gap between the completion of my Engineering (1994) and my work experience ( from 2003 - current) ?

appreciate your reply..

Thanks

You will have to be able to prove all important working experience declared. There is a part in the application in which you will have to describe everything you did since age 18. That will include and explain the "gap". There you can say you worked, but for experience I suggest to include ony "provable" experience.

1) On Schedule 1- Background/Declaration (IMM 0008-Schedule 1) - you CANNOT show any gaps.

2) On Schedule 3: Economic Classes – Federal Skilled Worker Class (IMM 0008-Schedule 3):

"Your work experience
Starting with your current occupation, list all of the occupations that you have had in the 10 years preceding the date of your application. For each occupation;

include the appropriate National Occupational Classification (NOC) code,

check the box that corresponds to the number of years of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time experience, and

write a description of your main duties.
Note: List only occupations that fall in Skill Type 0 or Skill Levels A or B of the NOC."

3) Supporting documentation - #7 on Checklist:

For the principal applicant:
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers for the past 10 years.
Letters must be:
• written on company letterhead,
• signed by the responsible officer/supervisor,
• show the company's full address, telephone and fax numbers, email and
website addresses, and
• stamped with the company's official seal (if applicable).
Letters must include all of the following information:
• the specific period of your employment with the company
• the positions you have held during the period of employment and the time
spent in each position
• your main responsibilities and duties in each position
• your total annual salary plus benefits
• the number of hours worked per week
• a business card of the person signing
If you cannot provide a reference from an employer, provide a written
explanation and any documentation that would support your claim to such
employment and provide the information as set forth above.

Your points related to work experience will be assessed based on what you can document. If you can't document it, write a letter explaining everything, but don't expect to get points for it.

In my opinion u should mention all ur work exp. and try to get whatever documentation ur previous employers r ready to give. even if they dont fulfill the criteria doesnt matter. ull not get points for it. but mention it. this is only my opinion.

Re: is it a prob if i show a gap between my graduation completion and work expe

You have to show, you have experience of 14 years in IT industries. Just show the proof of at-least last 4 years of employment.

You just send document supporting your last 4 years of employment.
You may send the following documents

Pay Slips
Appointment Letters
Experience Certificates
Income Tax Returns
Bank Statement
H1 Work Permit etc...

Good Luck
