Is IELTS mandatory for the application of study permit?????????

Hi Friends,
I have been selected by University of Toronoto for a PhD programme. while applying for study permit at VFS India, I was asked to provide IELTS score. I never appeared for this exam. My previous studies were in English. while applying to this University, I have provided a certificated from my present University at India stating my proficiency in English and instruction and exam of my previous study was in English. this certificate was accepted by the university and I got the admission. Now I would like to ask whether still there is any chance of my visa rejection due to IELTS?

Well IELTS is not only a college/uni's requirement but of Embassy as well. You are right about the fact that most of us (who have good command at this language) usually shouldn't go through this procedure. But they need IELTS score to believe you have language proficiency to study and communicate in Canada.

I believe for Phd, you should have 7 bands or more and I think you can easily make it.

Hi I applied and granted my PhD Study Permit and never submitted any English proficiency test scores. I wasn't required and it shouldn't be. But that's my case, an Egyptian applying from London.

your case seems to be good. and as said by another user, though he is from egypt and applied from london, so do not know if the same applies to u too! but ideally they require IELTS for the reason mentioned earlier. Now, I don't there is much you can do about it except to wait for there revert. SEnding them email or fax is also not a fix in my view as if they ask for IELTS, it will take you a month's time to obtain result.

Sabby2612 advice is instructive enough. Ielts embassy is one of mandatory requirements for prospective students from India. I will advise whoever is intending to apply now to include ielts bcos there is no waiver for it on canada site for india

You can apply with out IELTS. Since, you have LOA with IELTS exemption.

Dear i m from india and i have completed by b.tech from uttar pradesh technical university lucknow. I also got the letter of acceptance from university of victoria canada without ielts for master program. I want to know is ielts is still need for study permit.
or i have to provide any document to them inplace of ielts..?

First this school doesn't qualify for PGWP if you care about that.
IELTS you should check the application instructions for your country but it is usually only officially required for SDS processing stream.
