Hello, I wanted to check regarding Duolingo examination for student visa application from India. Is Duolingo exam test result accepted for study permit application? If I have acceptance letter from university in master’s degree program where Duolingo is accepted, is it fine if I submit study permit application with Duolingo exam test result?

I see in visa office instructions for applying from India requires imm1294e. It has one question related to language. “Have you taken a test from a designated testing agency to assess your proficiency in English or French?” So, I wanted to check if Duolingo exam is considered as designated testing agency or not, specifically for study permit applications? So, do I select “Yes” or “No” for the question?

Thanks for the response. Is there official page where it lists down accepted language tests. I wasn’t able to find any official page specific to study permit application.

Thanks for sharing the link. The link has list for express entry (PR) applications but not specific to student visa.

This is what IRCC accepts for study permits as well. Some people submit PTE as well but IRCC doesn't always consider.

Already said use the EE guidelines because it is the same for applying for PGWP. IRCC doesn’t accept Duolingo.

Just apply and find out, Visa officer might like Duolingo who knows.

Just adding official response from IRCC for anyone who is interested.

“Hi. Most study permits don't have language test requirements. IRCC only needs test results if your instruction guide, document checklist or visa office instructions specify that you do. We have information online about studying in Canada and how to apply for a study permit: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada.html You may want to contact the school(s) you’re applying to for more information about their language policies. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...re/designated-learning-institutions-list.html

And then another response for the original question I posted above.
“Unfortunately, Duolingo is not considered a designated testing agency. More information can be found here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-providers/language-testing-organization.html
