I have been trying to get an apartment in Toronto online and someone shared this cragslist website.

I got some accommodations, but the guy who claimed to be the landlord is asking from his deposit to be paid to him via Western Union and refuse to provide his telephone and bank account details for bank to bank transfer.

Please, does anyone have an idea what itz like renting an accommodation online before arrival in Canada?

Anticipating.

Craigslist has some real ads and some scammers. So you have to be very careful. If someone is asking you to pay by Western Union - it's a scam.

You have to be very cautious about this. Deposits are required but you have to make sure the offer is legitimate. And it's advisable that you check the unit in person so you can meet the landlord and view the actual place. Craigslist, lots of scammer. Check other websites. I check padmapper.com , easier and lots of filter

If it seems like it's too good to be true. It probably is.
