Is birth certificate required while applying open or closed work permit?

hi i have valid visitor visa until 2023 and my wife got PPR last week know we are going to Canada next week. My question is 1. do I need my birth certificate when my wife will apply for spouse sponsorship at Canada ? 2. I will also apply for work permit so my birth certificate is required while applying or not ? Thanks in advance
