I have been living in BC for almost a year under work permit and will apply for the permanent residence soon. Last weekend I was pulled over and got a ticket for distracted driving (use of electronic device while driving), I don't care to pay the fine but I want to know if this is considered a criminal offense for the PR application?
Also, the office said I can dispute the ticket, and if until the court date I don't get another ticket for distracted driving hw would cancel my ticket, but he warned me that it can take 12 months for a hearing. Does anyone know if this is true?
Do you guys think it is best to pay the ticket (and plea guilty) or open a dispute and have this open during my PR application?
