Hello all: I was told that Alberta PNP program is not more open for new applicants. Is that true? If not, can IT professional apply for this? I am in the US on H1B for the past 5 years. Please advice. If this is still open, how long does it take to obtain PR? And what are the disadvantages over applying through FSW? If we get the PR through this program, are will still allowed to move to other states for work? Your suggestions and opinions are highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have also learnt from some discussion forums that this programme has been closed. But you must visit their site first.

Good Luck.

You can find the AINP H1B visa program at http://www.alberta-canada.com/immigration/immigrate/srsvisaholder.html As far as I know, they didn't close the program but they took out the IT occupations from their most wanted list. The program has also been swamped with applications, some of them from people who aren't even interested in getting PR and are just applying for backup in case they don't get a Green Card so this has caused longer waiting times etc.

If you did qualify for the program or any other provincial nominee program, you normally sign something stating you are planning on settling there but once you have landed, as long as you at least landed there and maybe stayed a couple of months, nobody will stop you from leaving. A PR has the right to live and work anywhere in Canada.

If you want to apply and you qualify for FSW, then you should apply for FSW.
