Irish- visa extension/employer change

Hello all,
in Canada on a 1 year work permit from Ireland. My current employer is in the process of extending my permit. my question is,.... if my employer extends my permit , do I have to stay working for them or what is involved in changing employer if i decided I wanted a change.
