Received an email from IRCC requesting information to have my account created on the Permanent Resident Confirmation Portal. However, my wife and my kids are travelling overseas, and I have an airplane ticket purchased for myself to flight there in one week, staying there with them for 20 days, and returning in mid-March with my wife and kids altogether.
I understand that if we proceed for the virtual online landing, we will automatically lose our status (Open Work Permit) and will not be able to return to Canada because we will not be in possession of the PR cards whose could take up to 3 months to arrive. Consequently I would be required to refrain from travelling, resulting on staying apart from my family for extra 3 months.
For this reason, I was wondering if we have the possibility to opt-in for the in-person landing when returning to Canada or if the virtual landing is an obligation back in days.
I have replied back the email received by IRCC asking this question, also filled out a few web forms and tried to call them, as usual I got not answer from IRCC.
Have any of you guys had to deal with a similar situation?
