The number +1 888 242 2100 now just says "we are busy please don't call" (using other words).. Is there even a way to reach a human person to talk to in that number? Sigh with this IRCC

Yes - keep calling. They are receiving a very high volume of calls at this time. But in short, yes, entirely possible to speak with a person.
