Hi forum,

I have submitted my express entry profile and got rejected previously because i did not put in the correct police clearance certificates. so, i created a new application again and got invite on Nov 8th 2017 draw (458 and above) for my score of 466.

But i understood now that i made a mistake all the while. I have a B.Sc, and M.Sc, but my ECA states mine as Bachelors 4yrs + 1 yr Pg Diploma, so i fall under "Two or more certificates"; but in my profile I have put my credentials as Masters, and so got 126 points for that vs 119 for the "Two or more certificates" category.

Now, as i have received the invite, I realized the mistake while completing my full details. My worry is, as there is a mistake i did, and that will cost me points, making mine 459 points (still greater than 458 invited) and not 466, am i still eligible to apply and continue on the profile ? or should i cancel it out all and do it from scratch again? I have got all the documents ready and worry is that my medicals are done in June/July time frame this year. So, the 6 months limit (is there such a thing) is passing, and also my other certs are getting dated (old). I cannot get new documents all over again quickly.

In the invite it is clearly stated that -

Changes to your personal situation

If your situation (or that of your spouse or partner) changes, you should try to re-calculate your points score
before you decide to apply for permanent residence. To find out how to re-calculate your score, see:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

If your new score is lower than the minimum points score in the round of invitation from which you were invited to
apply, you should consider declining this invitation to apply. You should also consider declining this invitation
to apply if you no longer meet the minimum criteria for Express Entry.
WARNING: If you decide to apply in the above cases, your application may be refused and your application fee
will not be returned.

Some examples of changes which could result in a lower points score include:
• You no longer have a valid job offer
• You no longer have a provincial nomination
• Your language test scores have expired and upon re-taking them, the scores are lower.

NOTE: If you had a birthday since we sent you this invitation, and the change to your age decreases your points
total, this will not cause us to refuse your application for permanent residence.

--------------------

and when i did my points test, i got

---------------------
Comprehensive Ranking System formula

Subtotal Core/Human capital + Spouse factors + Skill transferability = 444
Provincial nomination = 0
Job offer = 0
Study in Canada = 0
Sibling in Canada = 15
French-language skills = 0
Subtotal Additional points = 15

Grand total = 459

I am confused as my case is not as stated in the given examples, and i am trying to reach the CIC hotline from last 1 week, but its busy all the time, and could not get to an officer even after 1 hour. Can someone who has been through this or know about this help me out please?

Hi. I had a similar issue although in our case I am the dependent applicant.

What I understand from the help I received is that CIC calculates your CRS again anyway and if you have a modified score, as long as it remains above the threshold of cut off for your specific draw, it is OK to make the change and explain in the LoE. As long as your recalculated score is above the cut off from your draw, you should be fine.

To be on the safe side, we decided to decline the ITA and are waiting for the next draw. We lost 6 points in all (5 for age and 1 for incorrect education level). Just didn't want to add more stress. Though waiting for a draw is equally difficult but less than paying for the process and risking rejection of application and losing money.

Good luck! It will feel weird for a bit. I still do. You have a high enough score to get through in the next draw so it's OK.
